2004-10-18 ~ work sucks

so here i am, at just after 6am, getting ready for work. they changed the hours, now it's 8-4:30 instead of 8:30-5. A good change, for most of our staff, but then they snuck in a new dress code under the radar which goes so far as to dictate women may not wear earrings that hang more than 1/2" and doesn't permit us to wear jeans on casual friday. they aren't taking away casual fridays, it's just that there is nothing casual about it anymore. well, that's not fair. the men don't have to wear ties on friday.

i never really thought of myself of the kind of person who would take offense to strict rules, but i'm beginning to realize that it's not the strictness of the rules that makes them right or wrong, but the reasons behind the rules.

gotta go, the man also says in the new policies & procedures manual that all employees (direct quote here) "must bathe and use deodorant, brush teeth and hair daily"...

you'd think i'm working in some slum, but no, it's just corporate america.
